2009 ELECTION RESULTS

The Poudre Valley Rural Electric Association held its 70th annual meeting on Saturday, March 28 at The Ranch near Loveland. Nearly 700 members of the association were present and total attendance was 1,500. Reports on the state of the association’s finances and operations were delivered and results of the election for board of directors were tabulated and announced. Four positions on the 11-member board were open for election as well as amendments to the association Articles of Incorporation. The proposed changes to the Articles was passed by a wide majority. The results of board election are: Director 2, Postion D, Boulder Country - Incumbent director Ron Sutherland defeated challenger Steve Szabo; District 4, Position I, Larimer County - Incumbent director Rick Johnson defeated challenger Jan Peterson; District 4, Position J, Larimer County - Incumbent director Gail Spencer Hole ran unopposed and was re-elected; District 4, Position K, Larimer County - Challenger Roger Alexander defeated incumbent Ed Hansen.

“Our association has benefited greatly from Ed Hansen’s dedication and leadership and we all owe him our thanks for his 26 years of service on the board,” said board president Keith Croonquist. “We also welcome Roger Alexander and the enthusiasm and experience he brings with him.”

Elections results released by the independent firm of Survey & Ballot Systems that conducted the balloting are as follows:

Immediately after the meeting the board of directors held an organizational meeting to elect officers and director representation to several affiliated organizations. Those results are: Board President - Keith Croonquist; Board Vice President - Jack Schneider; Board Secretary-Treasurer - Thaine Michie; Board Asst. Sec.-Treas. - Bob Lock. PVREA representation on affiliated boards is: Tri-State G&T - Thaine Michie; Colorado Rural Electric Association (CREA) - Jack Schneider; Western United Electric Supply Corporation (WUE) - Georgi Diehl.
