As a result of ARRA several new tax credits are available for Americans who wish to invest in weatherization for their homes. Please note: These are tax credits, not tax deductions. A tax credit is deducted from your actual tax NOT from your income. Just one example of how much you can save on energy conservation is the Weatherization Credit. When combined with the Insulate Colorado rebates from Poudre Valley and the Governor's Energy Office you can save 50% off insulation, weatherstripping, even new windows for your home, up to $2,100. INSULATE COLORADO PROGRAM

The 2009 Insulate Colorado Program is for homeowners wishing to make energy efficiency improvements to their existing homes. PVREA is partnering with the Governor’s Energy Office (GEO) to offer rebates directly to qualifying homeowners for the installation of insulation and air sealing measures. The program provides a rebate to homeowners that insulate and air-seal their attics and exterior walls to the recommended R-Values presented in the 2006 International Energy Conservation Code.
Here are some of the details:

• Insulation and air sealing upgrades must be performed on an existing residential dwelling.
• Not available for new construction.
• Applicants must own the residence and be the official homeowner of record.
• Rebate is for attic or exterior wall insulation and air sealing upgrades only.
• The program does not require upgrading of insulation or air sealing in all areas of the home.
• Insulation and air sealing upgrades must be completed by an eligible insulation contractor.
• Rebates are limited to 20% of the total cost of insulation and air sealing upgrades or $600, whichever is less.
• Rebate is offered on a first-come, first-served basis until program funds have been depleted.
