Washington Youth Tour

The Experience of a Lifetime For High School Juniors & Seniors

Every summer, Poudre Valley REA sponsors high school students to travel to Washington, D.C. for the Rural Electric Youth Tour. Over 1,700 high school students from all across America attend the Youth Tour every year. They cruise the Potomac, attend a play, meet members of Congress and see all the monuments. The 2017 Youth Tour will be held June 8-15, 2017. 

Who Is Eligible? 

High school juniors and seniors -- and whose parents or guardians are Poudre Valley REA members.

Deadline:

Completed applications must be returned by January 6, 2017. Individual interviews will be scheduled between January 9-20, 2017. Winners will be contacted by February 1, 2017.

Application

  • Youth Tour Application
  • Submit an essay, video, or creative work (drawing, photography, graphic design) addressing one of the following topics: 
    • Research “The Cooperative Principles” and pick which one you think is most important. Explain why.
    • What is a significant experience or challenge that you have faced and how did you handle it?
    • Identify a need/issue in your community and explain how you have or would resolve it.
