Reflecting on the Past Year - Message from the President & CEO

Jeff Wadsworth
President & CEO

As we move through the Christmas season and approach the end of 2016, it is important to reflect on the past year. In my CEO articles this year, we’ve been going through PVREA’s 2016-2017 Strategy Map. As I reflect on this past year, I would like to mention several of these goals we have already accomplished, many of them falling under the Renowned Member Experience strategic goal, the last part of the Strategic Map.

Renowned Member Experience is one of our primary goals because we’re a consumer-centric utility. You’re a member, not just a customer. So creating an exceptional experience between you and PVREA is important to us. Under this goal, we have specific objectives: Exceptional Service, Member Offerings and Member Engagement.

Exceptional Service. Wherever you live, you have an electric utility. But with PVREA, your electric service is different because we’re member driven, not profit driven. One of the ways we have worked to provide the best member service to you is by designing a new bill. Deployed in June, this new bill format is easier to read and has more information to explain your bill and electric service.

Member Offerings. As a co-op, we provide more to you than just electricity at the flip of a switch. Your Board of Directors has elected to continue with rebates to help you save money and energy, such as rebates on LED light bulbs and Energy Star appliances. We also have been working on another community solar project to offer members in the near future.

Member Engagement. We have made a significant effort to be out in the community more in 2016 and engage with you. PVREA started publishing Power Talk, quick video updates that give you an overview of what your co-op has been working on. We also created the PVREA Roadshow where we travel to various businesses in the community and talk with you about rebates, energy efficiency and any questions you may have. We also held a Member Appreciation BBQ here at PVREA, and were excited to see over 600 members attend.

These are just a handful of strategic member initiatives we completed in 2016. I am proud of the Board of Directors and the PVREA team for working so hard this year for the membership. Furthermore, I would like to extend my sincere thanks to you, our members, for your support with all the projects and strategic goals your cooperative has been undertaking.

Membership means everything at PVREA. Members are the core of who we are as a cooperative - it was members who formed PVREA in 1939. Without the membership, PVREA wouldn’t exist. That’s why a renowned membership experience is so important to us. From all of us at PVREA, we wish you and your families a safe and Merry Christmas and a 2017 filled with peace, joy and good health!
