PVREA has been awarded a $99,500 grant from the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association (NRECA) as part of the Regional Centers Initiative to conduct research for various programs that would serve cooperative members.
Over the course of the two-year project, PVREA will explore different energy services members could want and use in their home that would benefit both the individual member and the cooperative membership as a whole. PVREA will use its headquarters, a member of the co-op itself, as a way to test and implement a “Do It Yourself” solar kit, battery storage, energy efficient lighting upgrades and generator use during peak times of power.
The Regional Centers are a way for co-ops across the nation to together gain experience and understanding of new technologies, business models and systems. It’s truly a demonstration of the 6th Cooperative Principle – Cooperation Among Cooperatives.
