Take the Road to Engagement - Message from the President & CEO

  Jeff Wadsworth
President & CEO

Did you know your electric cooperative has conducted an annual meeting of the membership every year since our first Annual Meeting in 1940? The purpose is to hold the election for the board of directors, share important Association information, occasionally vote on other matters, and of course––the great door prizes!

The theme of this year’s Annual Meeting is “The Road to Engagement”. PVREA’s Annual Meeting is not only a business meeting for members, but is also a great opportunity where you can meet your Board of Directors and the people who work to bring electricity to your home every day. It’s also a community gathering where neighbors can meet new neighbors––or catch up with old acquaintances. And we make it fun with bucket truck rides, community booths, kids’ activities and the opportunity to meet Power!

As our lives get busier with the “errands of life” and more of our interactions with others are online (via social media), we must renew the value of face-to-face human connections. Especially as a member-owned business, it’s important for PVREA to meet with our members. Very few organizations are uniquely positioned like PVREA to bring together all members ofour local communities.

PVREA’s Annual Meeting is designed to take care of the important business of your co-op and the equally important business of building a real sense of community. All cooperatives serve both an economic and social purpose. While safe, reliable and affordable electric power is crucial to our mission, improving the quality of life for all members is at the core of what we do every day.

This is the co-op’s 78th Annual Meeting. What a great tradition for the co-op to annually meet with members since our first Annual Meeting in 1940. And since our founding in 1939, PVREA has been about two essential things: providing power and connecting with the communities and members we serve. But changes in technology over the past decade has changed the way we accomplish both of these key missions. Things are changing, and while I believe we are keeping ahead of the curve, the Annual Meeting will provide you an opportunity to hear about the state of the co-op along with what the future holds and how we’re continuing to be engaged with our members.

In next month’s magazine, be sure to read the Annual Report to the membership in the April edition of the Poudre Valley Connections newsletter and mark your calendars to join us for our 78th Annual Meeting on April 8 at Embassy Suites in Loveland.

If you have not attended the Annual Meeting in the past or if it has been a few years, we urge you to take the time to be with your fellow co-op members. Take advantage of being a co-op member-owner with a voice, and engage with us at this year’s Annual Meeting.

We get out of life what we put into it. PVREA is connected to you by more than just power lines. We are your neighbors, and we look forward to seeing you at your annual meeting on April 8 at the Embassy Suites in Loveland.
