One of the best benefits of being a Cooperative member is capital credits. This year, the PVREA Board of Directors is returning $3 million in capital credits to members. That brings the total amount of capital credits returns issued annually since 2010 to nearly $21.3 million!
This year’s capital credit payout is being paid to members who received service from PVREA for the years 2002, 2003 and 2015 or any combination of those years. Current and previous members who have accumulated capital credits during those years of $10 or more will receive a capital credit check the beginning of September.
Electric co-ops differ from other utilities. PVREA operates at cost— collecting just enough revenue to run and expand the business. When PVREA has money left over, it’s allocated back to you and other members as capital credits. Your allocation was noted on your bill in June. When our financial position permits, the capital credits are retired and returned to our members.
